Default Wisdom title & salvaging

Okay, so from what I understand, the higher your wisdom title, you have a small percent chance more of something not breaking when you salvage it. So why is it that my rank 2 wisdom character ALWAYS breaks the item (especially if there are 2 runes on something), and all my other characters who haven't ID'd any golds (they all get transferred to my main) NEVER break anything? Is this a glitch? Anything like this happen to anyone else?

It happems to me every so often. But I also have second rank in treasure hunter, too. So I have a little bit higher % to salvage without breaking.

If you're worried about a mod off a rare skinned weapon, use the perfect salvage kit.

My 2nd rank wisdom/1st rank treasure seeker has around a 50% rate of breakage to retention. My monk that I farm golds for that first character with salvages runes from armors at the same rate. I don't think it has much to do with the title than just luck of the draw, period.

I must've been having a LOT of luck then... Since my main character got her 2nd treasure hunter title (she has wisdom (1) aswell) only about 4-5 items broke when I salvaged things. And I've salvaged quite a few items...

The trick is to really hope you don't keep the item, thus tricking Sod's Law into not wanting to break it.

Mmmkay?

Spite.

The items with the best skins and sale-ability break without a doubt. Perfect Salvage Kits are a priceless commodity nowadays becuase they totally bypass your hard-earned titles. Ok, not priceless, but about 500g for 5 uses.

Since perfect salvage kits are around, you should be relieved of this fear.

On salvage I get about 50% chance and it really does seam to be that when I salvage, but for lockpicks I break almost every time.

I rarely break anything with R7 Wis and Treasure, but what DOES break tends to be non max items, strangely enough O,o

Until you hit 100% chance of success, expect to have times when lots of salvages fail.

Best run ever was when my main (with Wisdom 2 and Treasure 2) managed to salvage both mods AND the Inscription off one gold Scythe in order to graft them all onto another... all without breaking the Scythe (which oddly enough then got merched empty).

Things DO get easier when you up the Wisdom and Treasure Hunter titles... but the difference seems fairly minimal.... Kinda like lockpick retention. Lucky 2 and Treasure 2 doesn't help Chae Soon retain lockpicks half as often as he'd like. It comes out about the same as with my Monk, who only has the 2 points of Lucky to rely on.

I have rank 7 treasure .. 6 wisdom .. 5 lucky .. I break stuff all the time. Anyone saying they never break because of high ranks is not being honest. Anet hasn't quite figured out basic math or the percents are based on 1,000,000 tries. It is even worse on lockpick retention (for me anyway) 72% chance my @ss try more like 20-30%.

Perfect salvage kit > wisdom title. That is all.

its not funny math its basic statistics. At the sample size you are prob working at, there is not much difference between your 72% and 30 percent. Sample sizes have to be huge to even out in this type of test. I often tell people who argue this to flip a coin 10 time, 100 times ect. your 50% chance isn't going to be shown, you get close to 10,000 and you'll see it within 5%. Thats how this works.

To the OP, you don't see a difference between your lvl1 and lvl 2 TH because the difference is % simply isn't great enough to overcome random chance at the level you are prob working on. When salvaging 10 items your random chance is huge.

The titles do help with lock picks. I Have a guildie that maxed out wisdom and nearly maxed Lucky. He often goes an entire mission/dungeon with just 1 lockpick and opens everything.
